Social Get Togethers

 

February 22nd, Monday 6pm - Longhorns Restaurant on Harrodsburg Rd Lexington, KY

NOTE:  Please RSVP Julia at jbs@windstream.net  by Friday, February 19th if you plan to attend.  This event is open to all members, associate members, spouses, potential members, friends, etc.  We hope you will join us for this fun night of fellowship.

 

May 1st, Saturday 4pm - at Kathy Ford's home (directions will be posted later)

Kentucky Derby Hat Party.  Bring your favorite fun hat, homemade or purchased, for some fun as we watch the annual Kentucky Derby Race and fellowship with one another.

 

Watch for additional social get togethers.  We are attempting to plan at least one each quarter in 2010.  If you have an idea for a social get together, please contact Julia at jbs@windstream.net.  We are looking for new ideas.

 

 

 

 

 

          

Recent Events:

Valentine's Packages for St. James Place:  On Saturday, February 6, 2010 we met at noon to put together 38 Valentine's packages for the residents of St. James Place.  Promptly at 2pm, we arrived at St. James Place to deliver the packages and visit with the vets.  It was a fun afternoon and we look forward to our next event with the residents of St. James Place.

 

We are a support group in the Central Kentucky area for moms and their families, who have children serving or children who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States. We join together to share our concerns, our pride and our devotion for our loved ones serving in the United States Armed Forces. Through events and activities we support fellow Blue Star members, our children serving in the Armed Forces of the United States, our Veterans and our community. We share educational information to benefit our members and their families. We also promote causes that will benefit military personnel through a military advocacy program.

Kentucky Blue Star Moms Chapter 2 is a non-partisan, non-sectarian, non-discriminatory and non-profit (501[c]3) organization. Our mission is to support fellow Blue Star members, their sons, daughters and any other family members who are currently serving or have served in the Armed Forces of the United States of America. We achieve our mission by sharing educational information, participating in various service related activities, supporting veterans’ organization activities and promoting causes beneficial to all military personnel and their families.

We, the Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc, can no longer sit by quietly while our sons, daughters, veterans and their families are dishonored. No one dislikes war more than the military and their families. But, we proudly stand by our children in their decision to "serve" this wonderful country. We are neither for or against the war; we are FOR our children.
We will not support any cause that undermines the military and increases the potential harm to them. Such causes are detrimental to our troops, veterans, families and our fallen warriors. With our freedom of speech comes the responsibility to use it without causing harm to our fellow Americans.
We will continue in our efforts to support our troops, honor our fallen heroes, grieve with their families, take care of our veterans and remember our POW/MIA's.
